What is Brushless DC Motor (BLDC)?
Brushless motor, also called brushless permanent magnet DC motor, or permanent magnet synchronous motor, uses electronically-controlled commutation system with controller performs as power-distribution. The controller contains a bank of MOSFET devices to drive high-current DC power, and a microcontroller to precisely orchestrate the rapid-changing current-timings.
Element of forming the magnetic circuit for all brushless motors is reversed from brushed type. With the carrying coils on the motor housing, heat generated can be readily absorbed into the mass of the motor housing and dissipated to the ambient.Initial technology of brushless motor uses Hall Effect design with sensor encoded to a shaft to time the stator winding and rotor position. Others measure the back EMF in the undriven coils to infer the rotor position, eliminating the need for separate Hall Effect sensors, and therefore are often called "sensorless" controllers.
